Update01 Apr 2024

The Swoosh brought back the Nike Dunk Low 'Plum' in March, and now another Dunk from the 'Ugly Duckling' pack is set to drop soon. The 'Veneer' iteration is set to drop on April 11, 2024, hitting SNKRS and select retailers for $115. Check out the official photos above and keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for any updates.

The Nike Dunk Low ‘Veneer’ was originally released as one-third of the 2001 Japanese-exclusive ‘Ugly Duckling Pack’. A retro then came nineteen years later, at the height of the Dunk renaissance. Following the 2020 resurrection, rumours have been swirling of a 2024 ‘Veneer’ retro, and this news comes fresh off word that the ‘Plum’ would also make a welcomed return.

Nike’s 2001 ‘Ugly Duckling Pack’ consisted of the ‘Veneer’, ‘Plum’ and ‘Ceramic’, which helped ring in Team Swoosh’s Pro B line, a skate-specific take on the Dunk – preceding Nike SB – with fatter laces, extra padding and updated materials. It was an exclusive CO.JP release, and each pair in the ‘Ugly Duckling Pack’ hosted full suede builds, bolstered by eye-catching colour-blocking. The ‘Veneer’ was made up using a mix of brown and ‘Autumn Green’, with ‘Deep Purple’ Swoosh and laces. The only differences between the modern version and its 2001 counterpart is the tongue and laces, which have been modernised.

Out of the ‘Ugly Duckling Pack’, the ‘Plum’ and ‘Veneer’ have already been rumoured to return, so a ‘Ceramic’ retro could also be on the cards. You can expect the ‘Veneer’ in mid-2024.
