Running. What was once a pretty niche hobby reserved for dedicated athletes has evolved into one of the fastest-growing movements in sport and fashion. As its influence and popularity have thrived, we’re increasingly seeing marathon and performance models embedded into daily rotations.

Few brands have embraced the hype with the serious substance of Team Trefoil. From record-breaking marathon racers to comfort-focused daily trainers, the German sportswear giants have built one of the most comprehensive running catalogues on the market. Whether the goal is chasing a personal best, building weekly mileage or simply finding a more comfortable ride, the brand have developed a silhouette to match every type of runner.

We’re taking a closer look at some of adidas’ primo Adizero running styles and what sets each one apart – come break it down!

adidas Adizero Evo SL

The adidas Adizero Evo SL has been stamping its grippy outsole all over the timeline since its 2024 debut – but should you be unfamiliar, here’s the lowdown.

To put it simply, the speedy track star sits within Team Trefoil’s ‘fast daily sneaker’ category. It’s built around a balance of lightweight construction and high-energy responsiveness and uses a Lightstrike Pro-based midsole setup designed to deliver a snappy feel rather than deep, plush cushioning (and without leaping fully into supershoe complexity). The geometry is slightly rocker-driven, helping transition through toe-off more quickly without forcing an aggressive stride.

Upper construction is minimal and engineered for weight reduction, usually using thin mesh with strategic reinforcements rather than heavy structural overlays. The fit is more race-inspired than trad runners, while the outsole coverage is kept relatively lean to reduce weight, using rubber only in high-wear zones.

In terms of adi’s product ecosystem, the Evo SL is one of the most accessible ways into the Adizero lane, giving a taste of race-shoe DNA without the stiffness or cost of full-carbon models.

adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3

adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3

The Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is an extreme beast, but comes onto the scales at just 97 grams, making it one of the lightest marathon race shoes adidas have ever made. The accolades don’t stop there. During its competitive debut at the London Marathon, the silhouette immediately made history, with Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe and Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha both breaking the two-hour barrier – and posting landmark times of 1:59:30 and 1:59:41 respectively – while donning the speedster.

The model was all about stepping outta the box, according to adidas. ‘Creating the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 pushed us to think differently from the very start,’ said Patrick Nava, GM of Running at adidas, during the model's launch. ‘We weren’t just trying to improve on what we’d done before – we wanted to see how far we could go. We went through more than a dozen iterations, working closely with our athletes and testing everywhere from our labs in Herzogenaurach to high-altitude camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. At that level, every detail really matters – we were measuring things down to the nearest nanogram. It was a long process, but it’s led to something we believe genuinely changes what a race-day shoe can feel like.’

Now… Who’s beating that record?

adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4

The Adizero Adios Pro 4 sits in adidas’ elite racing category, designed for marathon performance but with a more wearable edge. Built on the Three Stripes’ Lightstrike Pro cushioning system, it delivers a responsive, energy-return-focused ride, supported by carbon-infused EnergyRods that help guide forward momentum through each stride.

Made for speed – with a bit more structure, durability and versatility than its predecessor thrown into the mix – the model features a double-layered, reformulated Lightstrike Pro foam setup. The ride is noticeably softer and airier than the Pro 3, delivering maximum cushioning alongside high-energy return – all in the service of keeping your momentum consistent over longer runs.

Underfoot, a combo of lightweight LIGHTTRAXION polyurethane and race-tuned Continental rubber provides reliable grip, even in soaking-wet conditions, but you’re not dealing with the added weight of a full-rubber outsole. In May 2026, the silhouette was reworked by Satisfy, who debuted the project with an extreme launch event and running experience hosted in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert.

adidas Adizero Boston 13

adidas Adizero Boston 13

The workhorse of the Adizero family, 2025’s Boston 13 is still sitting under the radar by adi’s running catalogue standards – but this ‘super trainer’ has its fans. The style comes with a Lightstrike Pro and EVA dual-density midsole setup, working in tandem with carbon-infused EnergyRods to deliver guided propulsion through each stride. Compared to earlier Boston iterations, the updated 13 swaps out the thin racer-style upper for a padded tongue, supple engineered mesh and a redesigned heel collar – and instead of a full-length Continental rubber outsole, it sports the same combo of rubber and LIGHTTRAXION as the Pro 4.

adidas Adizero Pacer

adidas Adizero Pacer

Not every runner needs a marathon-winning supershoe! The Three Stripes’ Adizero Pacer ditches the premium materials (of the Evo SL and its kin) for more classic options, resulting in a super versatile and durable runner that won’t crush your bank account. Built to keep things simple, the Adizero Pacer offers a lightweight setup and responsive ride, and thanks to its firm Lightstrike cushioning, it feels stable underfoot and quick off the mark – ideal for speedwork, tempo runs and anything under 10K.

adidas Adizero SL 2

adidas Adizero SL 2

The Adizero SL 2 is anything but SLow, though it sits alongside the Pacer as part of adi’s celebrated entry-level racer options. Sitting comfortably between a daily trainer and a speed-focused shoe, the silhouette brings a bucket of race-day energy to everyday mileage. A combo of Lightstrike Pro and Lightstrike 2.0 foam keeps things bouncy, cushioned and responsive, while the breathable mesh upper and durable rubber outsole make sure the ride stays comfortable long after the finish line. This is a pair that disappears on-foot in the best possible way!
