The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be the biggest in the tournament’s history. This year, they’ve expanded the usual 32 countries involved to 48, and that means the number of matches has exploded from 64 to 104. There’s also three host countries utilising 16 cities’ gargantuan stadiums – and all of this is happening within the largest and fastest media environment of all time. What that means is there’s set to be more storylines coming out of the event than ever before, and that brands are going to have to go bigger to make their moment count. So far, a plethora of unveilings and debuts have landed – and now Nike have entered the game.

Over the past three World Cups, Nike have taken the opportunity to debut heavy-hitter product with campaigns that’ve caught the eyes of the world. In 2014 the message was to ‘Risk Everything’, featuring the Flyknit revolution and the famed Magista boots. For the 2018 tournament it was France and Kylian Mbappé’s triumph, and ‘Dream Speed’. The 2022 matches were remembered by extreme heat, Zoom Air-kitted boots and advanced federation kits.

Now, for 2026, Team Swoosh are ripping up the script and breaking with the usual routine – here’s what they have planned.

The Global Anthem

After much anticipation, Nike have officially debuted their anthem ahead of the World Cup. Fans were kept hanging for the drop, it turned out to be a worthy wait. Dubbed ‘Rip the Script’, the video sees Nike’s biggest and best football stars unleash absolute chaos in a Hollywood studio, featuring Mbappé, Vini Jr, Erling Haaland, Cantona, Ronaldinho, Zlatan, Drogba, Campos, and of course the GOAT: Ronaldo.

‘We made this film to meet football communities exactly where they are, not just on a screen, but in their world and deeply engrained into their subcultures,’ said Helena Thornton, VP of Nike brand management. ‘We didn’t want to follow the traditional marketing playbook. We wanted to give them something worth talking about, worth clipping, worth wearing, worth showing up to. A story they don't just watch – one they can make their own. That’s the whole idea behind our universe of Nike Football.’

Aside from those big-name players, you can also clock plenty of cultural figures and collaborators in the release – like Central Cee, Clint of Corteiz, Kim Kardashian, Travis Scott and LeBron James. Watch the full anthem above!

2026 Nike FIFA World Cup Kits

Aero-FIT the Kits

If you remember the 2022 Qatar World Cup, you’ll recall the wild temperatures and the resulting sweat-soaked players. This year’s games across the United States are expected to see comparable levels of scorching sun, and to tackle the problem, Nike are set to unveil their Aero-FIT tech in signature kits for the many federations they sponsor. You may already know of Nike's Dri-Fit technology, but Aero-FIT is an entirely new fabric that increases air flow for athletes by over 200% compared to the uniforms that were worn in Qatar.

‘Our national team kits start with the athletes who wear them and the fans who stand behind them,’ said Amy Montagne, president of Nike. ‘These players carry a nation on their backs, and their kits travel with football culture far beyond the pitch. We take that pride seriously. These kits bring the best of Nike together with an apparel innovation designed to remove climate as a variable for athletes and design that reflects a deep connection to each federation’s DNA – creating something athletes feel proud to wear and fans feel truly connected to.’

Aero-FIT is Nike’s most advanced apparel-cooling system yet, and uses a texturised knit that combines open and closed zones to move air across the body. It’s set to deliver double the aeration of many legacy fabrics.

A Family of Boots

Nike have come to the World Cup with all of their players kitted and booted up with either the Mercurial, Phantom or Tiempo. The Mercurial franchise is the latest to get updated, delivering both the Vapor and Superfly variations. Each are built for quickness, but the former provides primarily for rapid movement while the latter bolsters straight-line speed. These boots are favourites for Mbappé, Sam Kerr, Ronaldo and Vinícius Júnior!

The Phantom, which is the boot of choice for the beast Erling Haaland, is basically a sniper rifle – focused on scoring precise goals and finishes. Finally there’s the Tiempo, Nike’s heritage franchise. It’s heavily honed for comfort and next-level touch, and become a go-to for Liverpool legend Virgil van Dijk.

Collaborations Galore

The lifestyle end of the Swoosh’s catalogue brings a spectrum of defining collaborations, at the centre of which sit their heaviest hitters. Travis Scott is one of the biggest contributors, putting his touch on a Nike Phantom 6 set to debut over the coming few months. There’s also an indoor version that the rapper has been clocked wearing across the past year.

A batch of country-themed collaborations is also on the cards, featuring several iterations of the brand new Cryoshot. The Virgil Abloh Archive’s Cryoshot Zoom M9 is the fan favourite so far, and represents Team USA. Closely following behind comes Dutch label Patta’s Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor 9, and Palace’s England-centric Cryoshot Air Speed M. Slawn has gone full Nigeria on a graffiti-clad Cryoshot Striker 1976, while G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE reps Korea with the Cryoshot CTR360. Finally, Jacquemus represents the mighty French national team with the Cryoshot Tiempo R10.

Nike have stepped up their game for this year’s World Cup, and are sure to have more in the pipeline as the tournament gets underway.
