Trotting Onto the Gridiron: The Sooners Receive Air Jordan 14 OU PE
Put any bandwagon accusations to rest – these are certified heaters! The Oklahoma University football team doesn’t horse around when it comes dominating the turf, and Jordan Brand are taking notice by gifting the Sooners their own Air Jordan 14 PE.
The pigskin-tossing team took to Instagram to reveal the exclusive pair, featuring a deep red suede across the upper with black accents on the tongue, heel, lining, and outsole. Carbon fiber trimming along the midsole calls to mind the Air Jordan 14 ‘Ferrari’ colour blocking, although it donned a much brighter shade of red. Completing the Sooner-themed design is Oklahoma’s OU logo replacing the typical Jumpman seen in the emblem near the collar.
Schools being laced up with exclusive Jordans is a common occurrence these days, but they rarely receive double-digit silhouettes from MJ’s signature line. To our knowledge, the Oregon Ducks are the only other team to receive a special makeup of the Ferrari-inspired model. This isn’t the first time that OU connects with the GOAT though – the Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 6, among others, were previously given the ‘Boomer Sooner’ treatment as well.
We’re sure that fans would love an opportunity to own these Sooner than later, but given its PE status, these will most likely not see a public release. As the Air Jordan 14 is set to return in multiple colourways this year, it’s possible that other collegiate teams will get their own version as well.
In other breaking news for the AJ14, the ‘Chartreuse’ colourway from the mid-2000s LS era, will be making a return in 2027.
