The age of the Air Jordan 40 officially kicked off earlier this month with the launch of a two-tone colourway, and Jordan Brand aren’t messing about with follow-ups. Already, the silhouette that marks 40 years of MJ’s signature line has donned colourful monochromatic hues and now gets a glistening PE for Beijing’s Jordan-sponsored Dongdan basketball tournament.

The Air Jordan 40 promises to not just look good, but perform on-court, too! For the first time in Jordan Brand history, the Jumpman have elected to inject the midsole with full-length ZoomX. The upper also boasts ultra-luxe specs in premium leather with webbing that enables 360-degrees of containment.

‘This is the definitive performance basketball shoe on the market,' says Jason Mayden, Jordan Brand CDO. 'For the first time, we’ve combined two landmark Nike innovations to create the Air Jordan of the future. We wouldn’t be Jordan Brand if we weren’t also obsessing the intersection of style and performance. This shoe helps you get buckets and look good while doing it. It perfectly embodies the essence of effortless versatility.’

The Air Jordan 40 PE ‘Dongdan’ is allegedly limited to six pairs in total, and hosts specialised details like a full metallic gold upper and custom tongue branding. This won’t be the first time Jordan Brand have created specialist pairs for the Beijing basketball tournament; last year they dropped Air Jordan 13 Low and Luka.77 among others, all exclusively available in China.

You'll most likely not see these bad boys release to the public, but keep it locked here for all the Air Jordan 40 news you need.
