The adidas Believe That Lands as the AE 2’s Wallet-Friendly Wingman
The sneakerverse is rarely shy of a hefty price tag. Just look to the adidas Jellyfish as prime example, sitting around $300 and gearing up for a pretty big drop this February. It’s bold, sculptural, and undeniably headline-grabbing – but that kind of splash doesn’t come cheap.
As a result, in October last year the Three Stripes introduced the Adistar XLG 2.0 – a wallet-friendly alt that echoed the Jellyfish’s exaggerated tooling and aquatic curves, just without the Pharrell co-sign, or eye-watering price point.
It’s a take adidas have expanded onto Anthony Edwards’ AE 2, giving the signature sneaker a much more affordable proxy. Dubbed the Believe That, the model mirrors the AE 2's bold, sculpted lines and court-ready feel, but streamlines some of the high-end details to hit a friendlier cost point. Where the original AE 2 flexes exaggerated tooling, premium cushioning, and explosive tech-forward paneling, the Believe That features the new synthetic cage for breathability and containment on the sidewalls, simplistic traction on the sole unit, and Edwards’ treeline logo embedded into the bottom. The inner/outer split that’s been a staple of adidas’ recent basketball efforts sticks around, while Dreamstrike cushioning keeps the ride comfortable – all while maintaining that futuristic, aggressive aesthetic that defines Ant-Man's line.
Early looks show two colourways, with the orange pair turning up the contrast to make the silhouette pop like its performance sibling... just without the triple-digit sticker.
The adidas Believe That is set to hit shelves on July 1. Keep it locked for all the updates as they appear.
