James Harden's Iconic adidas Harden Vol. 1 Is Returning
Turn it up! After news of the adidas Harden Vol. 1 returning popped up last month, we now have official images of the original 'Pioneer' colourway. The signature James Harden silhouette is finally hitting shelves again to celebrating its 10th anniversary, and while no release date has been confirmed as of yet, it's expected these will land before the month ends. Talk about a throwback! James Harden's signature line is officially entering retro territory, as adidas bring back the Harden Vol. 1 nearly a decade after its debut release.
First dropped in 2016, the Harden Vol. 1 helped kick off a new chapter for adidas Basketball. With full-length BOOST cushioning, a premium leather upper and a clean, low-cut build, the model stood out from the bulky performance options of the time. It was designed to match Harden's quick footwork, explosive first step and signature step-back, and it quickly became a hit both on and off the hardwood.
The comeback starts with the OG ‘Pioneer’ colourway – yep, adidas are staying true to the inaugural design – pairing a black leather upper with bold scarlet accents and white details.
The retro marks a big moment for Team Trefoil’s b-ball division, as Harden joins the growing list of signature stars whose debut models have earned retro status – one of the most recent being Derrick Rose.
The adidas Harden Vol. 1 ‘Pioneer’ is set to release on August 1 for $140 – exactly the same retail price as its original 2016 launch.
