Bukayo Saka Continues Building His '7egacy' on the Furon v8

Just recently breaking an 87-year-old record for Arsenal’s highest scorer for England, Bukayo Saka is continuing to prove why he’s a dominating force to be reckoned with. New Balance are no stranger to his skills on the pitch, and they’ve honoured their star athlete by giving him a custom colourway of the Furon v8, designed directly with Saka.

‘I wanted to create a boot that shares my story with the fans who inspire me every day,’ Saka says of his special edition. ‘From faith to football, everything I care about is woven into this design.’ This sentiment rings true as you can see the various personal touches that Saka has included in this pair, through the hand-drawn graphics on the upper – a lion to represent his leadership, a bible and dove to reflect his faith, and a key as a commitment to his goals.

‘Saka’ and ‘God’s child’ are written on the lace aglets, and the quote, ‘It’s not what you See, it’s what you Believe’ is embedded on the foot beds as a powerful message of determination. The right-winger’s starry-eyed, halo-wearing logo can be found on the insole, as well as on the hologrammed outsole plate. Capping off the design is his number 7 on the heel foxing weld, to remind you who exactly is building a ‘7egacy’ right before our eyes.

This launch is more than just about Saka’s story, as it sits within a larger campaign titled ‘Through Their Eyes’, that aims to highlight young players in London’s grassroots football scene. The community initiative will not only celebrate these athletes’ work, but allow them to partake in panels and workshops to explore their personal expression through football.
