Fear of God and adidas' New Collection Dips the Basketball II in 'Wonder Oxide'
Fear of God fans are getting spoilt – and don't they deserve it, after those extended, tumbleweed-silent stretches of yore? The last we heard from label founder Jerry Lorenzo was just over a month ago, when the adidas colab model Basketball II landed in serene 'Ash Silver'. Now a fifth palette is joining the parade, and it lands with fidelity to the silhouette's previous monochromatic aesthetic: welcome, the 'Wonder Oxide'.
The colourway's pale mauve is a considered match to the Basketball II's clean build, which presents mesh and suede uppers designed with the kind of stripped-back exactitude you know and love from the Fear of God aesthetic. Tech-wise, adi don't play around. With a featherweight Lightstrike midsole, TPU shank for structure and snap, and a grippy rubber outsole in translucent cream, you're all set to transition seamlessly from hardwood to street.
Need a little catch-up? Here's your cheat sheet. The Fear of God Athletics line officially launched in 2023 as a standalone category within adidas’ portfolio. Its goal was to build a path between court and runway, uniting Lorenzo's low-key design eye with the Three Stripes' performance expertise.
The Basketball II 'Wonder Oxide' has just landed along with a 16-piece apparel collection, in a campaign fronted by LA Lakers guard Gabe Vincent, pro hooper Frank Jackson, and 5-star prospect Caleb Holt. It's all available now on the adidas CONFIRMED app, fearofgod.com, and select adidas global retailers.
