Few names carry quite as much gravitas in basketball footwear as Nike’s Flight, Force and Uptempo, three legendary franchises long associated with Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen, respectively. Decades later, the Swoosh are bringing the trio back, updating their performance philosophies for today’s game.

That means raiding the archives for inspiration, combining their original identities with the modern technology of the Greater Than (G.T.) series, the brand’s top-tier performance line. Beyond the three new G.T. models, Flight, Force and Uptempo will also serve as categories across Nike’s wider basketball range, signature shoes included.

Think of it as Nike's latest 'choose your fighter' moment, following a running lineup with a shoe for practically every occasion and a football division increasingly defined by playing style. Naturally, players can move between categories as their strengths, roles and priorities change.

Below, a summary of the new silos.

Nike G.T. Flight: Defying Gravity

First up is the G.T. Flight, a shoe built for players who spend as much time in the air as they do on the hardwood. The new model is designed to accommodate explosive movements, whether that’s hunting dunks, crashing the boards or chasing down a loose ball.

Underfoot, a full-length Zoom Strobel unit works alongside Cushlon 3.0 foam to deliver responsive cushioning and impact protection. A rubber outsole provides the traction needed for quick changes of direction, while a textile bootie and TPU cage help keep everything locked in place. LeBron James and Ja Morant fall under Flight, and eagle-eyed observers would have seen rising star AJ Dybantsa wearing the unreleased silhouette over the summer.

Nike G.T. Force: Bring the Muscle

Next, the G.T. Force, one for the big, strong boys and girls who like to throw their weight around, with A’ja Wilson and Giannis Antetokounmpo among the stars aligned with it. The silhouette comes in high- and low-top versions, with a reinforced synthetic upper, TPU shank and rubber cupsole adding stability when things get physical, while a ZoomX 3.0 foam setup delivers shock absorption for those hulking frames.

Nike G.T. Uptempo: Speed Demons

If Force is all about brute strength, the G.T. Uptempo is for those who prefer to dance their way around opponents. Picture Devin Booker, Caitlin Clark, Kevin Durant and Sabrina Ionescu, scorers who win with timing and touch. San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper has already given the public an early look.

Built low to the ground for sharp cuts and sudden changes of pace, the shoe stays lightweight thanks to an engineered mesh upper. In the midsole, ZoomX 3.0 foam combines with an Air Zoom Strobel and an additional Air Zoom unit in the heel, while a TPU shank and rubber outsole provide support and grip.

The G.T. Flight, Force and Uptempo launch on February 11, 2027, in North America, with a global release to follow.
