Looks like a lot of ballers will be hiding under the covers tonight: After Ja Morant shared a look at his fourth signature shoe a few months back, Nike have officially unveiled the defence-terrorising Ja 4 in its debut ‘Nightmare’ colourway. The new silhouette further enables Morant’s explosive playing style via a TPU JA-Frame keeping the foot secure, a Cushlon 3.0 midsole, and a supercritical foam SPRPWR sockliner to help him fly towards the hoop. A precise traction pattern allows Ja to bob and weave across the court, with a quote on the outsole warning opponents to steer clear: ‘If you’re down there, you’re in the way’.

Speaking on this colourway, Ja has indicated he’s intentionally keeping things as dangerous as his dominance in the paint. ‘I don’t like playing it safe – I want my shoes to stand out, just like my game,’ he says. ‘Every pair gotta have some energy to it, something that makes you feel different when you put it on. I’ve been hearing people call me the “Colourway King”, so I take that serious. I’m gonna keep making sure every drop hits like that.’

Update24 Apr 2026

And just like that… Nike Basketball are taking the throne once again! Ja Morant and Nike have officially unveiled the Ja 4 via Morant’s personal social media channels – the same rollout strategy they’ve used to share new colourways of the Ja 3.

This first look shows a similar design language to Morant’s previous signature shoe, aligning a reverse Swoosh near the heel with an extended midfoot shank to spell out ‘Ja’ when viewed from the side. A diamond texture is applied across the upper, a slight departure from Morant’s logo treatment on the Ja 3. Any new tech specs are still under wraps at the moment, but ZoomX cushioning is likely to return.

Several Ja 4 colourways have been teased, showing vivid green and pink shades alongside toned-down blue and black versions. One pair appears to be a continuation of the ‘Scratch’ theme, which has wrapped each of Morant’s signature models to date.

No release details have been confirmed as of yet, but a launch is expected some time in Q3 of this year. Check out the additional shots below, and keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for all updates.

Ja Morant’s signature line at Nike is currently three models deep, and it's built a dedicated fanbase thanks to pristinely chaotic colourways that boast plenty of attitude. The Ja 3 is by far one of the defining hardwood heaters of this era. Since its rise to the top, the world has been eagerly waiting for a follow-up. Today, leaks have emerged of the Ja 4 – there are no images yet, but we can get a pretty clear idea of what to expect from the rumours.

This news comes from industry insiders @zsneakerheadz, @sneakermarketro, @brandon1an and @sneakerfiles. According to the sources, the Nike Ja 4 will drop this year and will arrive in both Low and High form. You can peep the mockups below to visualise the upcoming silhouette. In terms of tech, you can expect a lockdown-shifting fit, with a Cushion 3.0 midsole. Of course, there’s ZoomX and a Ja stability frame for support.

Currently, exact release details are pretty murky, but you can likely expect to see the Ja 4 in the back half of 2026. The Lows are set to arrive first, with the Highs landing for the holiday season.
