The Nike KD 5 'DMV' Is Ready to Reclaim the Court
The Nike KD 5 comeback tour is officially heating up. With news of the silhouette's return hitting the ’sphere, the iconic ‘DMV’ colourway is now expected to be among the first pairs back on shelves – marking its first release since 2012!
As per , the upcoming release keeps things pretty faithful to the first serving, bringing back the original ‘Bright Crimson’ makeup alongside its black and ‘Volt’ accents. While the original colourway takes direct inspo from the DC area’s popular mumbo sauce, this iteration is also expected to bring back some of the hidden storytelling woven into the design.
The number five plays a key role throughout the drop, representing the five players on a basketball court, the five sides of the Pentagon – a major DC landmark – and the five points of a star. How’s that for a comeback with plenty of game?
Originally released during the Slim Reaper’s fifth season with Team Swoosh’s basketball division, the KD 5 fast became a fave among players and collectors alike. The model features a supportive mid-cut build, lightweight Hyperfuse construction and responsive Zoom Air cushioning underfoot, delivering the on-court performance that helped certify the silhouette's iconic legacy.
The ‘DMV’ launch won't be arriving alone, either. Nike are also expected to bring back the KD 6 ‘Seat Pleasant’ next year, continuing the celebration of Durant's hometown through two of his most beloved early signature releases.
Nike have yet to share details on the return of the KD 5 ‘DMV’ – though a release is expected to take place midway through next year. Keep it locked to SF for more info.
