Say Hello to the Nike Pegasus 42
Nike Pegasus is one of the sneaker industry’s longest-running and most successful franchises of all time. Today, the Swoosh's Beaverton HQ have announced the Pegasus 42 – the latest addition to the storied family.
Officially arriving on shelves in 1983, the Pegasus line was fittingly named after the mythological winged steed, and has acted as the workhorse in the Nike running stable for over 40 years. Built to be versatile – not too teched-out, but not too basic – the Pegasus line has always boasted a dedicated following across the spectrum of running. In 2026, the Peg 42 is set to continue that legacy, with an updated design and speedy curved Air Zoom units.
‘We’ve taken what runners have always loved about the Pegasus franchise and turned it into the best version yet with the Pegasus 42,’ said Elliott Heath, Nike running senior footwear expert. ‘This shoe provides a balance of consistent elements that look and feel connected to its legacy, coupled with new innovation to make it even more iconic. The moderate cushion and support bring a lively bounce, providing its greatest quality: the ability to take it for a ride on a variety of runs.’
The Pegasus 42 will come out in the franchise’s 43rd year of existence, and is actually the series' 35th iteration! For the updated build, Nike went full nimble, with the Peg 42 reporting a 15 per cent increase in responsiveness when compared to its predecessor. Constructed to easily transition between paces, the new Peg hosts engineered zones focusing on breathability and comfort. The overall design is sleek and is packed with Air Zoom units in the forefoot, with brand-new Pegasus logo details on the tongue, heel and outsole.
The Nike Pegasus 42 has been locked in to arrive through your usual running retailer on April 10.
