Nike have officially unveiled the highly anticipated Pegasus Plus 2! The silhouette has been completely overhauled, set to deliver a lighter stride and boost speed to the max. The Peg Plus 2’s engine is its curved, visible Air Zoom units in the forefoot, paired with ZoomX foam which helps deliver an 18 per cent increase in energy return when compared with the original Pegasus Plus.

‘Our goal was simple: speed without sacrifice,’ says Deepa Ramprasad, senior director of Nike Running footwear. ‘We spent years obsessing over every ingredient in this system – nothing more and nothing less than what a runner needs to feel fast, comfortable and confident to push their pace. This is a revolution for the Pegasus franchise, bringing inspiration from race-day sensation into a daily trainer.’

Which all boils down to this: The updated Peg will deliver a supershoe feel without the plate and gargantuan midsole. Nike have also used a brand-new last, one which was in fact introduced with the Pegasus 42 – a neat new addition to one of the longest-running sneaker franchises of all time.

The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 will officially debut on August 27 in a ‘Flash Crimson’ colourway.

Update24 Jul 2026

Nike are still keeping the technical specifics around their Pegasus Plus 2 under tight lock and key, but official imagery has managed to slip out of the Beaverton headquarters. You can peruse the pics of two women’s colourways below, with the visible Air Zoom cushioning on full display.

Back in 2024, Nike did a little tinkering with their road-running lineup by separating it into a three-family, three-tier system. In the new arrangement, there’s the Vomero franchise for maximum cushioning, the Pegasus line that favours responsiveness, and the Structure built for supreme support. Within each of these families are the Icon, Plus and Premium tiers – the Icon as the standard core model, Plus as the upgraded version, and the Premium silhouette which boasts the most top-shelf tech.

Nike are slowly unveiling upgrades to each of their franchises, and the latest leaked look to emerge is the Pegasus Plus 2. This iteration arrives two years after the first Pegasus, a somewhat overlooked silhouette due to its landing head-to-head with the vastly superior Pegasus Premium – however, fresh images of the Plus 2 may have just flipped that imbalance on its head.

The clearest look yet at the Pegasus Plus 2 has circled on socials today, and the biggest change is the midsole – which now features Zoom Air. There are currently no specs released just yet, but the upper boasts what looks like engineered mesh, sitting atop a ZoomX foam midsole.

A release date hasn’t been set for the Nike Pegasus Plus 2, but a drop is expected toward the back end of 2026 or the start of 2027.
