Nike Bring Back the Shox BB4 'Olympic' for Its Second Retro Run
Nike are bringing back a proper classic with the return of the Shox BB4 – a model tied to one of the most iconic moments in basketball, when Vince Carter rocked the release at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Originally created by Eric Avar – the mind behind the Air Foamposite One, Flightposite, and Hyperflight to name a few – the Shox BB4 immediately made its mark on the court via its bold and futuristic design. That metallic, space-age look helped it stand out from its contemporaries, while the introduction of the Shox spring-based cushioning system underfoot delivered a distinctly bouncy feel, crafted to support explosive movement and heavy impact on the court.
Last released in 2019 and now marking its second return, the upcoming drop arrives in a familiar mix of ‘White’, ‘Midnight Navy’ and ‘Metallic Silver’. The upper draws from space gear and early rocket tech, giving the build a sci-fi feel. At the back, four Shox pillars sit in the heel – acting both as a style cue and a nod to its performance roots.
