Nike Bring Back the Shox BB4 'Olympic' For Its Second Retro Run
Nike are bringing back a proper classic with the return of the Shox BB4 – a model tied to one of the most iconic moments in basketball, when Vince Carter rocked the release at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Originally created by Eric Avar, the mind behind the Air Foamposite One, Flightposite, and Hyperflight to name a few, the Shox BB4 first made its mark on the court with a bold, futuristic design that quickly set it apart. Its metallic, space-age look helped it stand out from silhouettes such as the Air Uptempo, while the introduction of Shox cushioning and a spring-based system underfoot delivered a distinct bounce feel, crafted to support explosive movement and heavy impact on the court.
Last released in 2019 and now marking its second return, the upcoming drop arrives in a familiar mix of ‘White’, ‘Midnight Navy’ and ‘Metallic Silver’. The upper draws from space gear and early rocket tech, giving the drop an almost sci-fi feel. At the back, four Shox pillars sit in the heel – acting both as a style cue and a nod to its performance roots.
