There’s always that one friend on trail runs or hikes who’s overprepared, coming kitted with all the latest tech. Today norda is that friend – because they’ve just announced the fresh, mountain-ready 055. The Canadian trail innovators haven’t held back with their latest, decking out the speedster to perform in all conditions and for any distance.
’Each one of our shoes is a specific tool for a specific purpose, and with the 055, we set out to create an all-terrain, all-distance shoe that’s explosive yet stable,’ says norda co-founder Nick Martire. ‘Where the 005 is all about being the lightest, fastest race day shoe ever made, the 055 takes a “more is more” approach with a higher stack, taller collar and more structured upper. Two years in the making with the foremost technologies possible. There’s nothing quite like it.’
The launch of the 055 marks the first time that the brand have used a knit tongue and collar, constructed to improve fit and lockdown. The world’s strongest fibre, Dyneema, is employed for the upper, and a special version of the fabric was used on the laces. Down below, the 055’s Arnitel TPEE midsole remains stable in all conditions and is set to provide unparalleled energy return. The soleplate has been constructed by norda and Vibram and provides supreme grid while keeping weight down. The silhouette was tried and tested by all of norda’s trail-team athletes, and elite ultramarathon talent Rachel Entrekin donned the model for her record-breaking 2026 Cocodona 25 run.
