The World Cup is almost here, and while the football world gears up, there's a whole host of 'heads still waiting for Patta's Cryoshot Mercurial, a model which was teased last year and is still, frustratingly, no where in sight.
But that doesn’t mean Patta have eased off the gas – far from it. Most notably, the Amsterdam collective have been riding their 'Waves' series. What began as a single nod to the Air Max 1 in 2021 has grown into a recurring motif, one that now appears across multiple Air Max 90 packs and an Air Max 1 duo slated for this year's Air Max Day festivities.
Now, the 'Waves' treatment switches to the pitch with the Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite. Topped with a silver Flyknit/Gripknit upper, wavy synthetic mudguard details, pops of ‘Noise Aqua’ on the Swoosh and subtle co-branding on the heel, the boot carries the signature ‘Waves’ style onto the pitch. Underfoot, an shiny plate locks in firm ground traction, completing a look that’s as performance-ready as it is unmistakably Patta.
While it may not carry the same grail weight as some previous Patta x Nike colabs, the Mercurial shows the brand’s ability to translate a signature design theme from streetwear into performance-ready football boots – just in time for the game's biggest stage.
No release date yet for the Patta x Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG 'Waves' but a 2026 World Cup drop is likely – keep it locked for more updates.
