The PUMA Deviate Pure NITRO Is Stripped for Speed
After taking their flagship running franchise off-road earlier this year, PUMA are now getting back up to speed with the Deviate Pure NITRO, a lightweight runner designed to keep things fast, smooth and free from carbon plate stiffness.
Weighing just 220 grams, the upcoming model sits around 30 grams lighter than its plated counterpart – the Deviate NITRO 4 – making it perfect for tempo sessions, faster efforts and those looking for a more effortless feel. The lighter set up also helps reduce strain on the legs over longer distances, while still keeping the speed-focused rep of the Deviate line.
‘Deviate has been our leading franchise since PUMA relaunched in road running,’ says Romain Girard, PUMA’s VP of innovation. ‘Our ambition with Deviate Pure NITRO was to make speed more accessible, but still retain the performance benefits that have made Deviate loved by runners across the globe. The result isn’t just a run, it’s an experience of natural speed.’
Up top, the model’s engineered mesh upper keeps airflow consistent throughout runs, while a padded tongue and plush collar add extra comfort and support around the foot. Underneath, PUMA’s bespoke high-performance rubber outsole delivers guaranteed traction across different weather conditions, helping runners stay confident when the surface switches from dry to slippery.
Crucially, and unlike the Deviate NITRO 4, the silhouette is built without the Big Cat’s PWRPLATE tech. Instead, the focus is placed on an updated version of NITROFOAM – designed to provide a softer, more energetic feel underfoot while keeping the silhouette lightweight and smooth.
The PUMA Deviate Pure NITRO will be available from June 4 via the brand’s webstore.
