Hali & Basketball: The PUMA Signature Finds Love
We might have a glimpse at the sports flicks that Tyrese Haliburton is watching as he recovers from his injury. The Indiana Pacers star shared images via Instagram of a new colourway for the PUMA Hali 1, inspired by the 2000 romance movie Love & Basketball.
The cult classic follows two next-door neighbours in Los Angeles, who are navigating a budding relationship while pursuing their basketball careers. Haliburton shares that story through a dedicated colourway on the Hali 1 - with a mostly white and navy blue upper, and additional hits of yellow on the toe and heel. This color combo serves fittingly as not only does it match the Pacers’ palette, but it also pairs with the on-court gear of the film’s two protagonists.
The real ‘nothing but’ net detail, has to be the 22 and 32 that appear on the tongues - a nod to the numbered Crenshaw High School uniforms worn by Quincy McCall and Monica Wright in Love & Basketball. Tying the whole theme together is the fact that this tribute appears on a PUMA silhouette, as the jerseys worn by both characters also donned the Big Cat’s logo.
Haliburton first debuted his signature shoe in the ‘Hibiscus’ colourway, which fans are still eagerly awaiting, and we were recently treated to the ‘Opal’ pair for the silhouette’s initial release. No word yet on when this new ‘Love & Basketball’ edition will make an appearance in stores, but stay plugged in to Sneaker Freaker for all updates.
