Starting out in 2021, XLIM are a collective of creators working across fashion, architecture and art, with their identity shaped through ongoing ‘EPISODES’ inspired by culture and the spaces around them. It’s an approach that has quickly pushed the Seoul-based label on to a pretty impressive stage, especially as performance-inspired models continue to roll out throughout 2026. After linking with New Balance, XLIM are expanding their reach even further – this time stepping into the trail space with HOKA.

Their latest project reimagines the French label’s Mafate Speed 2, a silhouette rooted in utility-focused design. Originally made for long-distance trail running, the model is known for its oversized rocker midsole and dependable grip, making it a go-to for heavy terrain.

The XLIM x HOKA Mafate Speed 2 arrives in two colourways, both of which lean into a monochrome build that reflects the brand’s architectural mindset. Across both pairs, a layered mix of suede, leather, mesh and synthetic panels create depth without going OTT. Underfoot, the stacked sole unit remains, finished with a Vibram outsole engineered for serious traction.

Finally, early previews, shared by founder Dohee Kim, reveal subtle but deliberate branding, with HOKA logos hitting the toebox, while XLIM detailing lands across the lateral toe and heel in raised lettering.

A release date and price point have yet to be announced by XLIM and HOKA. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more details.

In other news, Steph Curry’s sneaker collection is hitting the auction block.
