Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 2 Is Here

The start of the new NBA season approaches, and the signature sneakers have started rolling in. After officially introducing Jayson Tatum’s Jordan Tatum 3 just yesterday, the Swoosh have now revealed Ja Morant’s second signature sneaker, the Ja 2.

The Ja 2 builds off Ja Morant’s debut silhouette by creating a second-gen version that delivers more in terms of comfort and support, especially on take-off, landing and speedy lateral movement. The style packs a punch with a forefoot Air Zoom unit that’s designed to deliver extra bounce, and also features a moulded midfoot panel for better responsiveness and control on the break. A sidewall guardrail both protects and stabilises the athlete’s foot, while a semitrailer-inspired traction pattern ups the traction underfoot.

Speaking on the launch of his new silhouette, Morant said: ‘From the Ja 1 to the Ja 2, the core things remain the same. The work ethic doesn’t change. It’s about comfort, more bounce and bringing my fans into some different storytelling they may not know. We tell those stories through the colourways of my shoe.’

Morant’s input is clear within the colourways, as the initial rollout kicks off with a ‘Purple Sky’ edition inspired by Morant’s sky-high dunks and explosive play style – which Nike describe as being as mesmerising as the night sky. The pairs sports a palette of deep purple, gold and sky blue, and features a speckled sole unit reminiscent of scattered stars, and a silky heel tab patterned with a constellation-style arrangement.

The ‘Purple Sky’ Ja 2 will land on SNKRS and in select markets on September 26. The silhouette will then be available globally at nike.com and select retailers from October 8. Hit the link below to secure your size on the day.
