Jordan Brand Unveil the Zion 4
Jordan Brand officially unveiled the Jordan Zion 4 and it might be the best model in the Pelican star’s signature line yet. Zion Williamson, who unfortunately has not made his season debut as he deals with injury, continues his partnership with Team Jumpman with this fourth iteration. Due to the injuries he has faced throughout his career and the monumental rise of his other Jordan Brand signature athlete counterparts, competition for market share is stiff. The Zion 4 nevertheless aims to break through. Presented as the marriage of strength and speed, the Zion 4 includes several key updates that improve upon the previous model’s shortcomings.
First and foremost: cushioning. The Zion 4 utilises a drop-in midsole, as did the Zion 3. However, with the 4 Jordan Brand swapped out Formula 23 foam for Cushlon 3.0, which is known for its soft springy feel underfoot while providing impact protection upon landing. This insole sits atop a full-length Air Zoom strobel board. Zoom strobel is a popular setup used in the KD, GT Cut, and GT Hustle lines and is known for its responsive bounciness. These design elements help support Zion’s tremendous size and his play style. The model also features a similar lateral wing containment piece that was seen in the Zion 3, and the upper utilises a more resilient synthetic leather material compared to the textile of the 3. Fit may be the most noticeable upgrade, as the Zion 4 has a significantly wider toebox than the previous model. This not only makes it more wearable and comfortable for hoopers of any size but also allows the foot to move more freely and naturally.
The debut colourway of the Zion 4 is expected on January 28 for $140, with subsequent colourways slated for the months ahead. Keep it locked here with Sneaker Freaker for updates.
