It’s hard to imagine a more bankable superstar than Anthony Edwards. With a bark as loud as his bite, Ant Man shocked the NBA fraternity when his Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs –despite a gallant comeback from the defending champions. Boasting perhaps the most impressive new signature shoe in the league, Edwards has now agreed to a five-year contract extension with adidas, which is expected to sit at over $10 million per year.

Reported by NBA insider Shams Charania, the specific details of the new deal were not made public, but it’s expected that Edwards will eventually make eight figures annually, making him the focal point for adidas' basketball division moving forward.

Selected as the number one pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Edwards became a key player in adidas’ roster early on, signing an endorsement deal with the brand. Three years later, adidas revealed the AE 1, which quickly rocketed up the standings to become the most popular silhouette in the league. Combining BOOST and Lightstrike midsoles, the AE 1 is scheduled to launch in a low-top iteration later this year – we’re also looking forward to some stellar Olympic-inspired colourways for Paris! On the court, Edwards averaged 27.6 points, 7 rebounds and 6.5 assists during the 2024 NBA Playoffs, eventually falling short against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
