Precocious talent Coco Gauff is through to the next round of the US Open after a hard fought win over Germany's Laura Siegemund. The sixth seed, Coco Gauff is flexing both on and off the court, with the 19-year-old debuting her inaugural New Balance signature shoe – the Coco CG1 – in 2022.

Gauff is now helping Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance launch their latest collaboration, which is the T500, an old school performance tennis shoe from the 1980s. Like the 550, the T500 will no doubt be framed as a lifestyle option given modern technical advancements, with Gauff styling the shoes within Aimé Leon Dore's inimitable lens – this time shot by powerhouse photographer Renell Medrano.

In terms of colourways, it looks like ALD are utilising their signature understated palette, with the red/white and green/white combinations no doubt underscored by premium materials.

No stranger to resurrecting sneakers long gathering dust in the archives, Aimé Leon Dore famously helped New Balance bring the 550 back to centre court in late 2020.

‘The only information we could find about the 550 was from an old New Balance Japan catalogue,’ Joe Grondin, previous senior manager of global collaborations, told us back in 2020. ‘We were lucky because the Japan catalogues are super detailed.’

No release details have surfaced yet, but the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance T500 are listed for ‘Fall/Winter 2023’, which means a release date is likely imminent.
