LeBron James has gone full Olympian with his latest heater, the Nike LeBron 22 ‘Immortal’ Pack – an ode to Team USA’s golden run in Paris. Two pairs make up the pack: a blue-gold bruiser and a gilded edition so shiny you’ll need sunnies just to open the box. Retail is set at $510 – yep, you’re buying both pairs, no splitting the set. Consider it the price of admission for a two-part history lesson in leather and air.

Team USA secured their fifth straight Olympic gold medal for men's basketball over the weekend in Paris, with the superhuman US squad defeating the French team 98-87. LA Laker LeBron James added even more Olympic hardware to his trophy cabinet, claiming an Olympic MVP award after averaging 24.7 points per game – the most in the team. Of course, the sneaker highlight reel was off the charts on the hardwood, including Jayson Tatum’s big Jordan Tatum 3 reveal and plenty of retro revival like the USA editions of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro (a favourite for Devin Booker).

King James laced an extra special Nike LeBron 22 PE for the gold medal game against France, with the 39-year-old getting up and down the court in a gilded signature shoe specifically for the occasion. Featuring a metallic gold visual, the LeBron 22 PE featured the legendary ‘Safari’ print on the outsoles – a key feature in Nike’s recent Electric Pack. It wasn’t the only exclusive colourway to make an appearance, either. The LeBron 22 also sparked chatter in a metallic blue edition pregame for the Team USA shootaround, a warm up period which also included Anthony Edwards's popular adidas AE 1 Low and the Book 1 – both rendered in patriotic blue, red and white remixes.

Scheduled to launch over the coming months, the Nike LeBron 22 features several new design elements, including a larger Swoosh logo cut into the upper and a unique upside-down triangular cut-out on the tongue. Although full technical details haven't been released yet, it's speculated that the LeBron 22 will include advanced cushioning technologies like Zoom Turbo and Cushlon 2.0 foam, similar to what was used in the LeBron 21.
