The Slim Reaper Sparks Up: The Nike KD 18 Goes Full Skunk
Kevin Durant just rolled out one of his dopest PEs yet – a Skunk Dunk-inspired Nike KD 18 that’s got more haze than a 4/20 hotbox. Channeling the legendary 2010 SB Dunk, the Houston Rocket laced these up against Memphis, and sneaker Twitter’s been fried ever since.
The hairy green suede upper goes full herbal remedy, contrasted by royal-purple accents and a smoky speckled midsole. It’s a wild texture play for a performance shoe, but the KD 18 can handle the trip, man – full-length Zoom cushioning, midfoot plate, and that new-gen knit shell keep it all game-ready under the haze.
Durant’s no stranger to the Swoosh’s dankest archive pieces. He’s been spotted in ‘Chunky Dunkys’ and ‘Grateful Deads’ before, but this might be the cleanest cross-pollination of hoop and SB culture yet. The PE tag means there’s no release date (yet), but with Nike’s recent habit of turning player exclusives into public pairs, don’t be shocked if this one suddenly materialises on SNKRS like a puff of smoke.
Over the years the sneaker world has quietly become a haven for cannabis-cultural nods, producing some truly legendary weed-inspired drops. Take the Nike SB Dunk High ‘Reverse Skunk’ – a reverse-colour flip of the iconic ‘Skunk’ that reignited the 4/20 fever with shaggy suede, green-and-purple hits and even a stash pocket hidden behind the tongue.
Then there’s the Nike SB Dunk High ‘Dog Walker’ – with hairy dog-fur textures, grass-green suede and leash-like Swooshes – that finely sub-texted its 4/20 drop without spelling everything out. And for something outside the SB bubble, the South Park x adidas Campus 80 ‘Towelie’ literally used a stash pocket and UV-activated red-eyed detailing to shout out its high-lighter muse.
