Tracy McGrady is back at the Three Stripes. Nearly two decades after his high-flying prime helped define adidas Basketball, the Hall of Famer has officially re-joined the brand that laced him through some of his greatest moments.

For those who came of age in the 2000s, T-Mac wasn’t just an All-Star – he was the walking highlight reel that pushed adidas into the centre of basketball culture. His signature line, marked by sharp designs and futuristic silhouettes, rivalled the best of the era and remains one of the most recognisable sneaker runs in hoops history. Seven All-Star nods, two scoring titles, and countless poster dunks cemented him as a generational scorer.

The renewed partnership isn’t just nostalgia. adidas have been making noise with a new wave of signature talent – Anthony Edwards, Donovan Mitchell, and more – and reconnecting with McGrady bridges the brand’s past with its present. For a generation of players who grew up watching him drop 13 points in 33 seconds, his return is a reminder of basketball at its most electric.

Among his shoes, the T-Mac 1 remains one of the crown jewels. Dropping in 2002, its sleek, leather-wrapped upper and bold toe panel stood out from everything else on court. Lightweight and built for explosive play, it became an instant classic in China and a street favourite worldwide, solidifying McGrady’s global influence. Later models like the T-Mac 3 and 5 pushed the line into bolder territory, but the T-Mac 1 still carries the legend.
