The adidas AE 2 Celebrates Lunar Luck With a Year of the Horse Spin
Anthony Edwards is galloping into the new year with a fresh pair of (horse)shoes. adidas have saddled up the AE 2 with a Lunar New Year 2026 makeover, tipping their hooves to the Year of the Horse with a colourway that balances myth with Minnesota muscle.
Cool grey uppers and metallic flashes set the tone, while a baby-blue lining and gold piping turn the tempo up a notch. Out back, a wild gold graphic fuses Ant’s jersey-number '5' with a Pegasus-style emblem – a nod to horsepower in every sense. His signature logo hits in red, punctuating the palette with that competitive fire we’ve come to expect from the Timberwolves star.
For its part, Anthony Edwards’ sophomore signature first surfaced publicly during the athlete's China tour, and was officially unveiled by adidas in September 2025. The sequel builds on the explosive blueprint of the AE 1 with a Propulsion Plate for torsional support and energy return, Articulated Fangs for lockdown, and a dual-density setup combining BOOST and Lightstrike cushioning. Lighter, sleeker and tuned for sharper cuts, it’s designed to keep up with Ant’s downhill aggression and above-the-rim theatrics.
Beyond the court, this drop doubles as a cultural flex. Edwards’ first China tour earlier this year cemented his global draw, and adidas are clearly feeding the flame with a release that speaks both to performance and presence. Lunar-ready and built for highlight reels, the AE 2 ‘Chinese New Year’ proves Ant’s signature line is just getting warmed up. Expect it to touch down early 2026.
