Derrick Rose isn’t done making noise. The former MVP has just lobbed his own take on the adidas Fear of God Athletics II, and it’s a beauty. After months of whispers and PE sightings, the Rose-stamped version of Jerry Lorenzo’s minimalist baller is finally going retail – and it’s dropping October 1.

The II has already been touted as the cornerstone of Lorenzo’s adidas vision, but this one packs extra juice. Draped in muted greys and off-white mesh, the build is as clean as a Chicago winter morning. But peer closer and the details start talking: exposed textural overlays, a blood-red tab swinging off the heel, and Rose’s own adidas logo stitched in like a badge of honour.

Since linking up with adidas, Lorenzo has been ever-so-slow-cooking the Fear of God Athletics imprint into something substantial. The debut I Basketball turned heads with its sculptural midsole and slip-on futurism, setting the tone for a design language that sits between street and sport. The follow-up II Basketball tightened the screws, leaning into performance bona fides without losing that stripped-back FoG minimalism.

Price-tagged at $180, the Fear of God Athletics II x Derrick Rose lands right in the sweet spot. But more importantly, it extends Rose’s legacy into fresh territory. Now, excuse us while we cue up that 2011 MVP mixtape…
