The Fragment Design x Nike Book 2 shapes up as one of the more intriguing basketball releases of early 2026. More than a one-off experiment, the colourway builds on an emerging relationship between Hiroshi Fujiwara and Devin Booker, following earlier Fragment-branded Book 1 player exclusives that hinted at a deeper partnership.

Unlike the more expressive finishes seen on recent Book 2 colourways, this Fragment edition leans into stealthy minimalism. A predominantly black upper built from textured nylon sets a subdued foundation, while a crisp white Swoosh cuts through the dark palette to introduce contrast without disrupting the shoe’s calm, controlled aesthetic. Co-branding appears where it matters most: the ‘BOOK’ tongue logo receives the signature lightning bolt treatment, exposed product codes line the midsole, and tonal detailing across the eyestays and side panels adds depth without drifting into excess.

There’s also clear archival DNA at play. The Nike Book 2’s design language pulls heavily from the Air Zoom Spiridon, a late-90s running icon known for its lightweight build and flowing panel work. That lineage becomes even more pointed here, with the Fragment colourway echoing the black-and-grey palette of Fujiwara’s past Spiridon collaborations – subtly linking Nike’s performance heritage across eras and categories.

The partnership feels natural. The Book 2 is engineered to sit between performance and lifestyle, pairing a responsive forefoot Zoom Air unit with Cushlon cushioning and a low-profile, guard-friendly shape inspired by vintage Nike basketball models. Fragment’s design philosophy mirrors that balance –quiet, deliberate, and rooted in deep archive awareness.

Of course, Fragment Design are not your typical collaborator. Founded by Japanese cultural icon Fujiwara, the label have spent decades shaping streetwear’s visual language through an approach that values restraint over spectacle. From seminal Nike Dunk projects to landmark Air Jordan collaborations, Fragment’s work is defined by precise colour choices, premium finishes, and branding so minimal it becomes unmistakable.

The Fragment Design x Nike Book 2 is scheduled to launch on February 12.
