Rick, Morty, Melo: PUMA’s MB.05 Goes Full Portal Chaos
LaMelo Ball and PUMA are back in the multiverse – and things are getting weird again. The MB.05 returns in a fresh Rick and Morty get-up dubbed ‘Rickie Orange/Electric Peppermint’, a colourway that looks like it tumbled through six portals and picked up every chaotic shade along the way.
True to tradition, the shoes don’t match – because of course they don’t. One side flexes a radioactive hit of tangerine, gold and cosmic yellow, channelling Morty’s constant-screaming energy. The other shoe jumps dimensions entirely with an aqua-mint-peppermint mashup that feels ripped straight from Rick’s lab-coat pocket. The whole thing is unhinged in the best possible way.
Under the hood, Melo’s fifth-gen signature still brings the hardware: sculpted tooling, grippy rubber for those stop-start cuts, and enough midfoot structure to survive the most reckless fast breaks. But the wild palette is the real storyline – this pack exists purely to stir the pot. PUMA are also dropping matching apparel and additional silhouettes, building out a proper capsule for anyone who wants to dress like they’ve been binge-watching interdimensional cable.
Since debuting in 2021, LaMelo Ball’s MB line has become PUMA Hoops’ crown jewel, evolving from a promising rookie model into one of basketball’s most consistently hyped signature franchises.
The MB.01 set the tone with its alien wing detailing and fearless colourways, immediately cutting through a crowded market. The MB.02 doubled down on the sci-fi chaos, while the MB.03 went full outer-planet distortion with its shredded-lava visuals. By the time the MB.04 hit shelves, Melo’s aesthetic had become unmistakable: maximalist, playful, a little deranged, and built for guards who prefer controlled chaos over traditional polish. The MB.05 continues that trajectory, sharpening the tech while keeping the unruly energy cranked – and these Rick and Morty editions prove the formula hasn’t lost an ounce of intergalactic swagger.
The MB.05 'Rickie Orange/Electric Peppermint' touches down November 21 for $135. Keep your eyes on the portal… 'cos things tend to get messy.
