Nike’s ‘What The Book 1’ is a wild patchwork stitched together from elements of both Devin Booker’s signature line and the Swoosh’s deep archive. As the first shoe to carry Booker’s name, the Book 1 has already hosted a run of inventive colourways – but this ‘What The’ edition dials things up, sampling some of Nike and Jordan Brand’s most iconic palettes and jamming them into one silhouette.

We’re seeing nods to the legendary Air Safari, the electric ‘Neon’ Air Max 95, and the fan-favourite Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard.’ Even Booker’s own PE riff on the ‘Metallic Purple’ Air Jordan 1 sneaks into the mix. All those references collide across snakeskin panels, mismatched midsoles, and clashing Swooshes, creating the kind of visual chaos only a ‘What The’ can pull off.

Beneath the patchwork, the Book 1 remains a rock-solid performer: Cushlon 2.0 foam, a heel Zoom unit, and a supportive TPU sidewall keep it game-ready, while twill and suede overlays nod to its off-court appeal. The ‘What The’ execution transforms those building blocks into a walking timeline of Nike hoops heritage – part performance rig, part sneaker scrapbook.

For those unfamiliar, the Book 1 itself entered the conversation in late 2023, when Nike officially unveiled Devin Booker’s first signature silhouette. Designed as a modern performance model with vintage cues, the shoe quickly carved out its own lane in the Swoosh’s hoops lineup. In just a couple of seasons, the Book 1 has built a foundation of storytelling and performance strong enough to warrant the chaos of a ‘What The’ remix.

Unfortunately, no official release details for the Nike Book 1 ‘What The’ have surfaced, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for details.
