Nike Tap the Archive for the Book 2 ‘Spiridon’
Devin Booker’s sophomore signature run continues to sharpen its identity, and the Nike Book 2 ‘Spiridon’ might be the clearest signal yet of where this line wants to live: right at the intersection of archive reverence and modern hoop utility. Slated to release next month, this colourway digs deep into Nike’s late-90s performance playbook.
First released in 1997, the Air Zoom Spiridon was one of Nike’s earliest silhouettes to showcase visible Zoom Air, wrapped in a sleek, tech-forward runner that looked fast even standing still. With its metallic finishes, flowing lines and unapologetically futuristic energy, the Spiridon became a cult favourite – a symbol of Nike’s willingness to experiment at the edge of performance and design.
Visually, the Book 2 ‘Spiridon’ channels that DNA through a familiar ‘Metallic Silver’, ‘Sport Red’, black and white palette. Breathable mesh uppers are reinforced by synthetic overlays, while ribbon-style lace loops nod to the original runner’s sculpted panelling.
Performance-wise, the Book 2 doubles down on control and court feel rather than flashy tech. Underfoot, a full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole delivers a smooth, responsive ride that stays low and stable, while a top-loaded Zoom Air unit in the forefoot adds a subtle snap on take-off without lifting Booker too far off the floor. A midfoot shank plate helps with torsional stability through hard cuts, and the multidirectional herringbone traction is tuned for sudden stops, pivots, and change-of-pace footwork – exactly the kind of movements Booker lives on.
The Nike Book 2 ‘Spiridon’ is scheduled to release on February 6, 2026, priced at $145 – landing just ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend.
