Having initially joined forces in 2004, Nike’s partnership with the Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has seen the Swoosh raise millions to help those in need. The bulk of this comes through its joint Doernbecher Freestyle programme, an initiative that sees patients from the children’s hospital put their own spin on a series of Nike silhouettes. After revealing this year’s collection back in October, we’re now getting news of a release date for the 2023 Air Jordan 3 ‘Doernbecher’, one of the most anticipated pairs from the capsule.

This year’s AJ3 ‘Doernbecher’ marks the second time the model has been featured in the initiative. Designed by Hugo ‘Juice’ Covarrubius Molina, who suffers from Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, the Air Jordan 3 features navy leather uppers that come splattered with green accents. These include drip patterns that nod to the designer’s ‘Juice’ nickname, as well as glittery green details at the collar and tongue.

Continuing to channel Juice’s vision, the Air Jordan 3 ‘Doernbecher’ also features a 24-carat gold-plated hangtag, as well as a gold-toned ‘Juice’ wordmark on the heel. Finally, Juice’s favourite mantra: ‘It’s okay to be different’ appears on the outsoles, and a pair of glow-in-the-dark laces tie everything together.

The Air Jordan 3 ‘Doernbecher’ will land on December 2, so stay locked for more info and images.

In the meantime, the Air Jordan 3 ‘ Fear’ lands this month.
