Given how ubiquitous the Air Jordan 1 is, it makes sense that Jordan Brand are trying to get as many people into them as possible. While supply and demand issues are for another discussion, some sneakerheads face a different type of challenge getting the AJ1 on-foot.

Enter the Air Jordan 1 FlyEase, an accessible rework of the iconic basketball shoe that enables multiple entry points thanks to a series of straps and zippers, while still maintaining its classic lines. And this new ‘Hyper Royal’ colourway that’s dispersed among predominately black leather uppers is another nod to the model’s rich history.

The soft leather construction makes for a comfy shoe right out of the box, paired to a nylon tongue and elasticated dummy laces that stretch and conform to all foot shapes. Underfoot, the Air and rubber midsoles are still impressively comfortable for a 35-year-old design.

The FlyEase system is smoothly integrated into the upper. The long, curved zipper wraps from medial arch to heel counter, effectively opening the entire shoe in one fell swoop. Lockdown is achieved with both an ankle strap and midfoot band, using the aforementioned elastic laces.

The Air Jordan 1 FlyEase ‘Hyper Royal’ is out now in some countries, while a Stateside release is expected soon.
