Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons are continuing their long-running collaborative relationship with Nike by releasing two tonal editions of the not-often-seen Air Carnivore. This left field choice is par for the course by CdG, who have been known to pull out lesser-appreciated Nike models such as the Air Mowabb and Air Footscape for previous efforts.

The Nike Air Carnivore originally released in 1993 as a hardcore cross trainer that was equipped with all of the Swoosh’s latest technology at the time. High-cut neoprene booties, rugged Air soles, and a menacing colourway (and name!) made it a formidable model back in the day. CdG, rather, their Comme des Garçons Homme Plus sub-label, add their spin to the Air Carnivore by rendering the synthetic and mesh uppers in all-black and all-white, with additional reflective detailing on the midfoot straps.

The last time the Air Carnivore hit the shelves was an OG retro back in 2010, so if Nike have gone to the effort of reviving the silhouette, perhaps there will be more colourways on the way. Which is an exciting prospect indeed.

The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Carnivore is scheduled to release on May 1 via Dover Street Market’s New York and Los Angeles locations, plus their webstore.
