It’s easy to look past Y-3, the joint venture between adidas and legendary designer Yohji Yamamoto, but the sub-brand’s influence goes beyond niche fashion circles. Yamamoto-led Y-3 has infiltrated itself into the full Team Trefoil catalogue, from lifestyle to performance, multiple times over. This year for the Olympics, the sub-brand has been sinking its nails deeper into the Trefoil universe, designing the uniforms of the Japanese team and crafting epic sports-geared silhouettes. The latest of those has just arrived in the form of top-of-the-line adidas spikes, the Prime SP3 Strung.

Made in collaboration with both Y-3 and adidas, the Prime SP is kitted with a full-length spike plate and bolstered with Lightstrike Pro cushioning in the forefoot. The ‘Strung’ part of the name comes from the upper, which has been expertly designed yarn-by-yarn and is built to ‘wrap your feet in a seamless cocoon’. The design, courtesy of Y-3, comes in an 'Aluminium/Black/Cinder' colourway, kitted with metallic silver outsoles and blacked-out branding details.

The adidas Y-3 Prime SP3 Strung is a super-limited spike that’s just dropped and is currently available at select spots like Up There Athletics.
